Harley Davidson Handlebars

Funky Harley Handlebars

Harley Handlebars certainly are funky, especially when you understand that the dictionary definition of the word funky is “Characterized by originality and modishness; unconventional.” In fact, lots of people would say that everything about a Harley is funky, not just the handlebars.

It’s been one stylish motorcycle after another and instead of “conforming to the prevailing fashion” as the word modishness implies, Harley has for years been the creator of current fashion in the motorcycle world. Harley is synonymous with originality. It was, after all, the first motorcycle ever created and it’s the oldest motorcycle manufacturer still in existence.

You’ve got to wonder, though, about how much change really has occurred in the design of funky Harley handlebars? When ergonomics became a trendy topic a few decades back, handlebar design had become a much-discussed issue. But what really has changed in the basic squared-cornered, u-shaped piece of chrome with hand grips? Handlebars have been spread further apart, they’ve moved closer together, they’ve risen up high and they’ve stretched way low, almost horizontally. Another funky Harley handlebar design is the T-shape, created back in the days of the chopper, and they’re still a popular choice. How do you know which is best?

Part of selecting the right Harley motorcycle involves finding the one with the most comfortable-fitting funky handlebars. Every man, (and probably lots of women) starting at the time he was a young child, has done the imaginary motorcycle ride, you know, the one where he sits, closes his eyes, raises his hands as if gripping the handlebars of a motorcycle and makes the vroom sound.

You’ve seen it and you’ve probably done this yourself so you know what I mean. Well, all kidding aside, this one simple imaginary move is really the first step in selecting proper-fitting funky Harley handlebars. Go ahead and do it now. Notice that your hands automatically move into a position that feels comfortable. Take note of how far apart your arms are spread, their angle, and how high up you’re holding them. This is probably where you’ll want your arms and hands to be positioned when grabbing actual handlebars. Now you just have to adjust your handlebars, or replace them with custom Harley handlebars.

But hold on. Equally important to selecting the right funky Harley handlebars is being able to manipulate the controls with ease. There’s a whole lot more going on with the handlebars than just steering capacity, which in itself, is a considerable task, so approach this topic with the attention it deserves. Your trusted Harley dealer can help out quite a bit so don’t be afraid to listen to his recommendations. And always take the bike out for a test ride as that’s the only true indication of comfort.

In the end, it doesn’t matter whether you select Fat Boys, custom-T-bars, Buckhorns, wide V-twins, Psycho Chubby Apes, chubby bars with risers, or any of the other funky Harley handlebars. What matters is that the ones you select feel right. So go ahead. Close your eyes and make that sound.
